Summer PDP Frequently Asked Questions

When is the season?

Summer Player Development Program runs the week of June 3rd-July 28th.

What do we get with registration?

Every athlete will:

  • Be placed on a team of 8-12 athletes in their age division
  • Practice once a week on a weeknight
  • Participate in 4 game days throughout the summer
  • Have opportunities for additional skills trainings
  • Receive a t-shirt to compete in
  • Be developed in life skills in our Themes of the Week

Where will my athlete practice?

Athletes will be placed at a practice facility based on their age division and area of Austin.

We have practice facilities all around Austin.

What are the age divisions?

Athletes are broken into one of three age division based on their incoming grade for the 2019-2020 school year.

Elementary = incoming 3rd-6th graders

Middle = incoming 7th-8th graders

High = incoming 9th-12th graders

What day of the week will my athlete practice?

Practice night of the week is dependent on your practice facility and age division. After registering, you will receive a team placement email with your athlete's schedule.

High School Division (incoming 9th-12th):
-Mondays 6:00-8:00pm @ Fulmore Middle School
-Tuesday/Thursdays 10:00am-12:00pm @ Lanier High School (restricted to Lanier HS athletes)
-Tuesdays 6:00-8:00pm @ Reagan High School (restricted to Reagan HS athletes)
-Tuesdays 6:00-8:00pm @ KIPP Austin Collegiate (restricted to KIPP HS athletes)
-Thursdays 6:30-8:30pm @ Givens Rec Center
-Day and time TBD @ Del Valle HS (starts week of June 10)

Middle School Division (incoming 7th-8th):
-Tuesdays 6:30-8:30pm @ Givens Rec Center
-Thursdays 6:00-8:00pm @ Fulmore Middle School
-Thursdays 6:30-8:30pm @ Covenant Presbyterian
-Tuesday/Thursdays 10:00am-12:00pm @ Lanier High School (restricted to Lanier feeder school athletes)
-Day and time TBD @ Del Valle HS (starts week of June 10)

When will we know what team my athlete is placed on?

We will send out team schedules by May 31st.

What if my athlete gets placed on a team and the night of the week or practice facility doesn't work for us?

You can request to have your athlete switched to a different practice facility or night of the week, but requests cannot be guaranteed.

When are game days?

There will be four game days scheduled on Sunday afternoons throughout the summer. Each team will compete in 1-3 matches, scheduled anywhere between 1pm - 7pm.

Our tentative game days are June 23rd, June 30th, July 14th, and July 28th.

Your team will be sent your match schedule the week before.

Who are the coaches?

TCS Volleyball coaches are caring adults who have broad experience in volleyball and youth programs. All coaches are background checked and trained.

How do I register?

How do I pay?

You can pay online at the time of your registration - note that you must have your payment ready, you cannot log back in to pay later.

If you did not pay with your registration you can bring cash or check with you to your first practice.

If you missed your chance to pay with your registration, you can also pay online here: https://www.tcsvolleyball.org/summerpdp-pay/. Make sure to keep the emailed copy of your receipt.

How much does it cost?

$160 per player / $40 with Free lunch discount / $60 with Reduced lunch discount
*Additional scholarships are available for athletes who apply for assistance.

What if I can't pay all at once?

We accept partial payments in special cases. Please email natalie@totalcitysports.org to request this option.

Who is Summer Player Development Program open to?

Summer PDP is open to girls entering 3rd-12th grade for the 2019-2020 school year, and boys entering 3rd-6th grade for the 2019-2020 school year.

What should we expect for the first practice?

Come with your athlete ready to play! That means running shoes, athletic shorts/t-shirt, hair out of face, etc. Knee pads are great if you have them, but not required. Bring a water bottle if able.

Please bring your completed waivers and payment in cash or check (if not paid online). If you do not bring completed waivers, please have a parent/guardian available to complete them at the first practice.

Parents/family are welcome to stay and watch, but are not required. Most facilities have bleachers or some kind of waiting area. If you do not stay, please be sure to return to pick-up your athlete on time.
