Although Summer League is all about the improvement and development of our athletes, we could not run a successful program without the help of our dedicated volunteers. Before we wrap up this season, we would like to turn the spotlight on five of our outstanding coaches.

From Turner Roberts, we are featuring Katy Mcintosh. This is Katy’s first time volunteering with TCS. Katy played volleyball in high school and has played sand volleyball in Austin since she moved here in 2009. Her favorite moments of the season were watching her players get their serves over the net and watching them experience the joy and triumph with their success. Her players taught her that team sports are an amazing way to make lasting friendships and reminded her of her love for the sport of volleyball. When Katy isn’t volunteering with TCS,
she is playing tennis or volleyball, exploring Austin with her
husband, or working as the Director of Operations for LawnStarter.

From Gus Garcia, we are featuring Shelesa Jones! Shelesa started volunteering with TCS Volleyball at the beginning of our 2017 Summer League. She heard about TCS Volleyball through Facebook, and signed her daughter up for the summer. Shelesa has played volleyball since the 8th grade, continuing on to play in college at Hampton University. Sharing her passion for the sport with her daughter has been the best part of her season. This season, Shelesa’s players taught her patience and increased her passion for volleyball. When she isn’t coaching for TCS, Shelesa spends her time running her own custom bakery.

At Givens Recreation Center, we are highlighting MyNeatric Woodard! This is MyNeatric’s first year volunteering with TCS; she found us through Facebook and decided to show interest. MyNeatric played volleyball in middle school and continued throughout high school, playing on the varsity team. Her high school varsity coach taught her what coaching should look like, and she used those skills when she coached a club team in Lake Jackson. MyNeatric enjoyed watching her team work hard this season. She learned that happiness is a choice and attitude is everything. When MyNeatric isn’t volunteering at TCS, you can find her working hard with Child Protective Services or enjoying herself
on the golf course.

From our Eastside Memorial location, we would like to feature Caitlin Gettinger! Caitlin first heard of TCS Volleyball after playing in our SpikeFest fundraiser last year. Although she has been playing volleyball for 17 years, Caitlin has learned a lot from her Eastside team about encouragement and perseverance. To her, the best moment in their season was when they learned to cheer each other on after every point, despite the score. When she is not volunteering with TCS, Caitlin spends her time designing software and hanging out with her dog.

Our volunteer spotlight from Hyde Park goes to Quyara “Q” Billingsley! Q is a former TCS club athlete and has been hard at work coaching two teams this season. She loves watching her girls grow as players because they remind her of herself when she started with TCS. This fall, Q is headed to Vernon College to play volleyball! She is excited for this opportunity to pursue volleyball while being able to travel and further her education.

TCS Volleyball would not be the same without these amazing people. Thank you to all our volunteers for the best Summer League yet!
